Major Medical Insurance Denver, Colorado Springs, Front Range Colorado
What is Major Medical Insurance?
Major Medical Insurance is health insurance that offers comprehensive coverage for catastrophic healthcare expenses. Coverage tends to be more comprehensive for "big things" than for "little things". There are many different types of health insurance, but major medical insurance typically offers a higher deductible than full coverage health insurance, and therefore, premiums tend to be lower. Major Medical Health Insurance Plans DO NOT limit coverage for catastrophic care, except as subject to the health plan's lifetime maximum. Major Medical health insurance comes in two different categories:
HSA Compatible Major Medical Plans
HSA Compatible Major Medical Plans are health plans that pay 50%,70%,80% or 100% after a high deductible until you reach the plan's maximum out of pocket responsibility, at which time, the plan pays 100% for all covered benefits. Deductibles for HSA Compatible plans usually start at:
- $1500 for an individual
- $3000 for a family
HSA Compatible plans, also known as HDHPs, allow you to save dollars in a tax-advantaged health savings account (HSA) that you can use to pay for deductible or out-of-pocket health care expenses. For more information about HSAs, visit our HSA webpage.
Typically, HSA compatible plans offer preventive care coverage immediately. In other words, you do not have to meet your plan deductible before coverage begins for preventive care services, such as pap smears, mammograms, checkups, well-child exams and immunizations. Other preventive benefits that could be covered without being subject to the plan deductible are cholesterol tests, bone density screenings and colonoscopies. However, these services are not typically exempt from the plan deductible, unless you purchase an Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield Lumenos HSA Plan. Other HSA compatible plans that are priced very competitively in Denver, Colorado Springs, and along the Front Range include:
Tip: Add an accident rider to your HSA plan to receive first-dollar coverage per person per accident in PLACE of your plan deductible. This is a great benefit to add to your policy if you are very active or if you have little children. It is inexpensive and will save you money if you are injured due to an accident. The accident plan that we recommend is WBA AccidentShield Accident Injury Insurance.
